The Menopause is a natural process that occurs as we enter the next phase of our life. It is a time for women to create a new beginning and a time for us to start looking after our health and wellbeing. The menopause is not an illness but does need to become part of our healthy ageing journey – and for me this is where Reflexology plays its role:
As a reflexologist I am here:
To listen to you – During our first session I incorporate an initial in-depth consultation to discuss any presenting conditions and symptoms along with previous medical history. This gives you an opportunity to talk about you, your symptoms, your feelings, your worries, what is your sense of purpose? What makes your heart sing? and most importantly what would you like to achieve from our sessions. This enables me to provide a bespoke treatment plan for you. We are all women, but all so very different, which is why it is important that your treatments are tailored to your needs. All treatments have a Holistic approach, which allows me to look at you as a whole person, taking into account any mental, emotional and social factors that may be affecting your wellbeing.
Support your mind and body – By applying gentle pressure to key reflex points and meridian channels in your feet, this can help your body return to its natural state of homeostasis.
Provide relaxation and ease your symptoms – Starting the session with guided meditation – creating a safe space to allow your mind and body to drift off to that special place. A place that is special to you. Maybe lighting a candle, covering you in a blanket, playing nice music or just talking you through your breathing.
Empowering you to take control of your wellbeing – By giving you support and offering general advice around lifestyle, exercise, helping you to introduce some simple changes which will allow you to become a happier version of you.
After Care – After care and between sessions is really important. This may include a couple of life stye changes, some nutritional advice, some Reflexology points that you can work on your hands between sessions. It is important that we introduce these at a pace where they can be easily achieved as we progress through our menopausal journey.
Although Reflexology on its own can’t claim to help alleviate Menopausal symptoms.
It can reduce stress levels, improve circulation, strengthen your immune system, improve sleep, optimise organ and gland function, increase energy, balance hormone levels and enhance mood, which in turn will help alleviate menopause symptoms. In addition, when Reflexology is coupled with nutritional and lifestyle changes the results are really positive. I have found that clients note a remarkable difference within a few sessions. Those who have regular reflexology sessions and add self-help into their daily routine undoubtably get the best results.
