Adapted Reflex Therapy (AdRx)
AdRx can be used to help with back pain, spinal and whiplash injury.
This amazing technique was developed by Gunnel Berry a physiotherapist inspired to find solutions for people in chronic pain.
Combining a medical understanding of spinal injury with the principles of reflexology, Adapted Reflex therapy (AdRx) is a non-invasive treatment for neuromusculoskeletal pain of short or long duration, high or low intensity. AdRx is a distinct form of treatment that is based on reflexology and is integrated with conventional physiotherapy. AdRx is used to detect and treat spinal injury, which may contribute to pain in other parts of the body. In common with reflexology, AdRx involves the application of pressure to the skin of the feet. In contrast, an AdRx practitioner focuses specifically on treating the spine and related structures through stimulating spinal reflex points in the foot, using techniques which are unique to AdRx. AdRx appears to encourage the body’s natural healing mechanisms to achieve sustainable recovery, even if the original injury was sustained many years previously.
Adapted Reflex therapy can be used as a stand alone treatment or incorporated into a session.
